The locals refer to dandies as the Meadow’s Whimsy, which perfectly reflects their nature. They’re very playful and naturally curious creatures, that at times, can be quite mischievous. Unburdened by the workings of the world around them, they sweep through the valley like a frivolous spring wind. Their behavior is primarily guided by their appetite, but because their supply of food is ever abundant, they are extremely picky eaters. When dandies aren’t eating or looking for food, they’re often seen frolicking or playing in the fields. They prefer playing with other dandies, but they’re not picky when it comes to playmates. They’ll often be seen playing with other animals or children. The combat capabilities of dandies are worthless at best. They’ll often try to intimidate and charge at other animals, only to stumble and hurt themselves. Despite their lack of offensive abilities, they have no natural predators. Dandies produce poisonous ruffle spores when stressed or in danger, so the price of eating them is no less than an excruciating death. Weanlings are a bit more vulnerable than adults, because their ruffle buds are unable to produce lethal spores. Though not lethal, their poison is still quite unpleasant, which is why most predators will even avoid weanlings.
